Brake pedal on my 68 fastback is very hard to push

Hi guys

New to the forum
I have installed mustang Steve front cobra brake kit on my 68 fastback and the brake is very hard. The brakes a plumbed up through the Scott drake distribution block .i have a new dual master cylinder 1 inch bore and have the factory midland power brake booster on the car.i have new stainless steel brake lines on the front brakes as well. I have ford racing 302 windsor engine in it which has a b303 cam not radical but mild . Could it be something to do with vacuum.

Re: Brake pedal on my 68 fastback is very hard to push

The article ultrastang directed you to is an excellent diagnostic list for a car that has original equipment power brakes.   There are some extra things to consider if one was retrofitted to the vehicle.

How old is the booster?  Was it a retrofit to a formerly manual brake car?  If so, the hole in the firewall must be sufficiently enlarged so the booster plastic piston does not drag on the sides of the hole.  That will cause an extremely hard pedal and sometimes make the pedal not want to return to static position easily.  This is usually overlooked when a booster is retrofitted, even if the booster is the original equipment design for that model and year of car.  The firewall was slightly different on cars originally equipped with power brakes.
