TMI headrest covers

I'm installing TMI seat covers on the 93 GT seats I bought a while back to put in my 66 coupe.

I need to know the best way to install the headrest covers. Do you heat them so they will stretch over the headrest foam? I saw a video on youtube where they used some type of air driven vacuum tool to suck the air out of a headrest. That looked pretty good but I don't have access to something like that.

Any ideas or helpful hints from someone who has done this??

Good, fast or cheap. Pick any two...

Re: TMI headrest covers

I took mine to a local trim guy and paid a few bux to have him do it...always glad I did.

Re: TMI headrest covers

Can't remember exactly what year my seats are but they are early 90's. I don't recall having to do anything special, maybe just letting them set in the sun.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: TMI headrest covers

Use a thin plastic shopping bag to put over the head rest and the cover will slide over the head rest easier.
Heat from a hair drier will soften the vinyl to alow it to streach a bit more as well.

Re: TMI headrest covers

they are a PIA!
it was a chore but make sure the vinyl lays in the sun and warms up.  Like Rudi said a thin plastic bag I talked to one of the guys from TMI about putting the covers on the seats and that how they recommended it be done

Re: TMI headrest covers

The very thin plastic covering that dry cleaners put on clothes works really well, especially on large items like seat buns.
