The joy of disassembly

It is hard to put into words the feeling of triumph and elation as a bumper bolt falls into your hand after two hours of unbelievably hard work with an 11/16 open end wrench, lying on a broken up concrete slab under your car.

Bet you guys know what I'm talking about.

And praise the Lord for WD40.

Re: The joy of disassembly

I do know the feeling! In fact I was jus there several weeks ago, and most of the bolts on the underside of the fenders were frozen, and two lock bolts on the bumper were undersized so they would just turn when I wrenced on them, that was fun, I stepped up from the WD-40 to PB Blaster by the way!

As for the "broken up slab of concrete" your laying on, there has to be better way, but I can also relate.

Re: The joy of disassembly

Well, much ado, a few holes in my hide, and several hours later, but the whole bumper's off now!   Got the radiator and A/C core out too.  Managed to twist one of my transmission cooler lines up real good, and looks like I'll be getting to replace the radiator anyway (not because I tore it up, mind you).

It was kind of a hack job anyway.  Always had trouble with fitment.  The outlet was right on top of one of the brackets/braces for the suspension.  I need to find a radiator with upper hose on the passenger side, and lower hose on the driver's side so it matches the 5.0 in my engine bay.  Hopefully with a drain on it, this time!

I couldn't find a reverse rotation fan for my car that fit the shroud, so I actually *trimmed* an '89 plastic clutch fan till it fit my shroud.  Then I broke the shroud getting it in, and never replaced it.  DOH.

Maybe it's time to go with electric fans too, when I get my new radiator...

Should I look at big block radiators for my car, and gain a couple more inches of width for better cooling?
