Fox GT Seats

I have 1993 Fox GT seats installed and am waiting to save up enough money to recover in pony red/white. In the mean time open track days are approaching and I think the right side of the drivers seat frame is broken " The gangster look". The passenger seat is solid. Any problems with installing the passenger seat in the drivers side of the car?

Re: Fox GT Seats

Looks like yours are power seats? There will be a problem if you try and swap them as the seat adjustments will be up against the drive line tunnel. I'd look and see if you can find another drivers side seat. Or have the broken seat straightened and re welded.

Re: Fox GT Seats

The round knob is for adjusting the thigh bolsters inward/outward on the sides. The rectangular switch is for adjusting the lumbar support on the seat back.

If the frame is cracked (pretty common) the only choices are to weld the frame or replace the seat for one with a solid frame.

Re: Fox GT Seats

the seatback tends to snap at the welds on the x bracing.  remove the seat, unzip from the bottom, and slide the foam and material off as one piece.  It'll expose the frame.  The frame will have x bracing that has snapped.  First you'll want to square up the frame, otherwise when you weld it, you'll weld it crooked, such as what i did.  Once it's all squared up, reweld, even add more x bracing for strengthing.

Re: Fox GT Seats

Them will look really sharp in red/white you can get the back to match.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: Fox GT Seats

Weld it up get some red vinyl dye and they will look great until you can re- upholster  them.
