Has anyone installed this box with the Ford style pump? Or do you have to buy the GM style?
I just bought the box, but I'm not to thrilled on putting GM type pump.

The pump supplied with the Borgeson kit is a Saginaw pump, which is a very good pump. The one I installed with my Borgeson kit that I put in my 68 works great - haven't had any issues with it at all.

I put a Borgy in a 67 200 I6 with the stock pump, and the boost was fine.

I'm running a stock 1991 ps pump. No problems.

You may feel funny about putting the saginaw pump on there, but Ford used them on full size cars in the 70's, and Chrysler used them on everything through the 90's. Point being, its been on so many things, it has no specific affiliation.
If you wanted the 'sexy' look, the krc pumps (which btw is also a GM generation III pump thats on millions of vehicles) could be done.
Stock pumps can be noisy, and are at the borderline for pressure at the low end. However, some people like it that way. I have two pumps AND a rebuild kit, I need to get rid of to clear space.
Me, I am using saginaw pumps on both my Galaxie, and my convertible. Just a creature of habit, I guess.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
