I was wondering who does drive their stang daily?
On May 1st I sold my daily driver and although my wife has a modern day driver, I am left with only my '66 coupe 40 footer. I figure its paid for, simple to work on, and sound. For now I'm going to drive it daily. Spring is her so snow will not be a worry until November.
Thoughts and comments?
What would you have on/mod your car with, for a daily driver?

I used mine as a daily driver for about 5 years. Both in the summer and through the brutal Montana winters. Worked great. In fact while I was driving mine all the time my wife was driving a 66 everyday.

Well, living in Minnesota doesn't work well for daily driver Mustangs. I love driving my 67 convert when the weather's really nice, but would not consider driving it in the rain or in rush hour traffic. I had 2 mustangs as my only car back in the 60s and early 70s, and I remember they were not good winter cars. Also, the 16 mpg I get is ok for weekends and car shows, but not for all the other driving the rest of the time. I say keep them special!!

Easy fix. When I was driving mine in the winter I put 200 pounds in the trunk and studded tires all the way around. the car was great on snow and ice.

I did have weight and studded snow tires then but they were still horrible in snow. Studded tires are illegal in MN now.

I think driving any classic car in the snow these days would be foolish. For one it's ah classic, the idea is to preserve it now. Road salt will kill these cars, Remeber they didn't have the rust perventetive technology when they built these cars like they do today. Notice modern cars don't rot out like they used to. And the big reason in my opinion is NO (ABS) or (Traction control). Yeah maybe you can drive good with out it. But thats not the problem,it's the other cars/drivers on the road. It's soo thoughtless to drive these modern cars with 8 cup holders, blue tooth,satellite radio,and dvd players that people get complacent.

I don't plan on driving it in the snow, but I do plan to drive it until November. My budget might allow me to pick up another car in August but for now, the mustang is it. Every now and then life throws you a curve ball and you have to figure out how to hit it. So for now, I'm driving the mustang. At least its a 'cool' car.

I drive this daily for the past 1.5yrs now, even on the crappy NJ roads and during winter. It gets washed weekly though during the winter....

I drove my '67 daily for a year and a half before tearing down for a rebuild, even left it at the airport for a week a few times when I traveled. I plan to drive it daily again once running but will have completed a few 'safety' upgrades:
1. added front PDB and upgraded size/quality of rear shoes
2. swapped solid shaft '67 column out for a '68 collapseable
3. headlight relays and better headlights
Edit: remembered another -
4. Highback (foxbody) seats with headrest, both for comfort and added safety.
Next up (should have been first and what I would suggest for your car)
3 pt. retractable seat belts to replace the factory lap belts

I switch between my motorcycle and my 66 coupe for daily driving. The only problem I have is both are easily identifiable and my spirited driving through downtown has gottem me a little more attention than I would prefer.
My coupe is no where near done, or show worthy, but it gets me around when I don't want to be on the bike.

My first 67 coupe was a daily driver from 1979 -1989.My 2nd 67 coupe was daily driver from 1989 till ealier this year when my wife got a 2013 Escape and I started to drive the 05 v6 some ,That's 24 years 2 quicky weekend paint jobs the last one about ten years ago .I would post a picture but if yours is a 40 footer then I could not get far enough back to not show the flaws maybe 80-100 footer.But I did drive through snow and ice storms and anything else on the road.

Like Bob N, I'm back and forth between a motorcycle (VTX 1300) and my '69 coupe. The gas mileage on the coupe is killing me because I'm only 4 miles from work, but I am quizzed daily about what I drove in.

My 66 Coupe has been a daily driver since I purchased it, back in 07. I live in TX, so driving during the winter is not that bad. My Coupe is currently on vacation in my garage awating an EFI/ T5 conversion. I hope to heve her done by July 13.

Once I get my '64 fairlane wagon finished I plan on splitting driving duty with it and my '90 mustang GT. Who needs new cars!
On that note I wish my 2012 mustang v6 would sell...
