The more I drive and Enjoy My Mustang,I'm now seriously Considering The 5 Spd.
Who has done the Conversion, any Do's and Don't.?
I know it's in the FYI page, but always good to know details from someone who has actually done this.

The most important thing I learned was to get a good transmission from the start. I initially installed a swap meet T5 and immediately had to pull it back out. Then I bought a brand new one. Get a new one or a quality rebuild from glens65 5.0. I have purchased two from him and several others have gotten theirs from him.
Be realistic on the exhaust system you have on the car, as big headers will affect your expenditure.
Plan on putting some different gears in the rear end if you don't already have them. I had a 400HP 31W in my car with a 3.0:1 rear end. The big cam made it so I could not use 5th gear under 70MPH. I tried 3.89, 3.70 and 3.50 gears. The car ran best and felt like the strongest acceleration with the 3.70 rear gear.

I agree with Steve on the issue of a quality trans. Another consideration is what you are going to do with the car. That can determine what clutch you use, rear gears etc. Best thing I di was buy a fastener kit fron Rosehill. It had every nut and bolt needed for the job.

About those rear gears. If your engine is basically stock in the camshaft department, you can leave the stock 2.79 or 2.80 or 3.0 rear gears in it. BILLY WALTON did that on his 66 with a carbureted 302 and pulls down over 25 MPG on BASH trips.

I'm a HUGE fan of BIG cams and I still have the 3.00:1 gear-in-the-rear.
Engine IS happier above 60/65 in 5th.
I sorta like the lopey sound at 50mph in 5th though.
If I go to pass anyone on the freeway I usually drop it in 4th to not lug the engine.
Third gear at 65+ is a REAL hoot when passing though!
