I am looking to buy new tires for my 66 fastback. What are you guys running? Do you like them or dislike them? I read mixed reviews about bfg's saying they wear very quickly and are noisy. Does anyone have experience with these? Does anyone really like there tires and if so what brand? Thanks

I have bfgs on our 06 stang. Factory tires! Only have about 20000 on them. Still look new. Id buy them again. I have goodyear eagles on fastback. But front end align chewed them up! One reason a lot of tires wear fast is if they are a Z rated tire they are soft and will wear faster. I had a set of firestones only got 19000 out of them. I try to stay away from firestone or their other brands like bridgestone but its personal preference

I have been running BFG T/A in 17" size. Yes, they are noisy but they are a quality tire that won't come apart on you. My 2007 came with BFG 18" from the factory and they were a really good tire. I bought a second set identical tot he first when it came time for new ones. When I wore those out, I went with Sumitomo. Boy, I will NEVER buy any Sumitomos ever again! The first set, I had to replace all four because of delamination. I have about 8,000 miles on the replacement set and the car is starting to wander all over the road like the first set did. Next time it will get BFG or Michelin (who makes BFG).
One word about buying tires when building a car. We all want to see immediately what those new tires and wheels are going to look like when we are building a car. The bad part is that tires deteriorate and get harder with time, even if they are not driven at all. That said, new tires should be the absolute LAST THING you purchase before putting your car on the road. That way, they don't sit in a body shop for a year or your barn for a year waiting to get the car put together. On my truck, I went to a used tire shop and bought two tires that were 2/3 worn out to put on the front. I think I gave $20 each. That way, I can test the size for fitment and they won't be dry rotted and ready to blow up the first time they go 100 miles on the interstate in July Texas heat. That was a year ago, and I am still at least another year from having the truck on the road. The rear two tires were purchased new in Kalispell, Montana when I got a mysterious sidewall cut on my Mustang. They were truck tires and 2" taller than what was supposed to be on my car, but they were the only 18" tires Costco (the only place open on Sunday in Kalispell) had in stock that would even come close to fitting. I drove them home and immediately took them off, replaced by the Sumitomos on the one and only time I have ever purchased the road hazard warranty.

Im with MS on the Sumitomos or Toyo tires. There overpriced and complete garbage.

I'm running BFG G-force Sport on my 66. I like them quite a bit. The ride is decent and handling is quite good. I can't say I've noticed much noise. They are wearing on the outside because my alignment is off.

I'm partial to cheap tires!
They are ALL round(most important thing) unless you are competing. Tires usually get old and hard before they wear out....so why go big bucks? It ain't like we put thousands of miles on these cars anyway. Go cheap and spend your $$ on other stuff.

BFG Radial T/A's right now, I liked the BFG G Force Sport better but they discontinued the 15 inch size I needed.

I'm running BFG Radial TAs on my 67 convert. 215 65 15s on back and 205 65 15s on front. I've got about 7500 miles on now and they still look great. They handle very well in the dry, I've never driven them in any kind of wet conditions. I paid less than $90 each for them and am very happy with them.

I'm on my second set of bfg TA's, first ones had some defect had to replace them on my way to the Montana Bash. Put on Dunlaps on the 3rd of July only thing that was available at the time. Just put a new set of 225 X60X15 on the back and 215X60X15 on the front. 66 coupe. Handle good, pretty happy with them.
