1967 Mustang I6 200 All Drum Manual Brakes

Hi Im replacing the old MC and my question is, is the Push Rod suppose to come right out? I attached couple of pics, from what I've read it suppose to be hell to remove but mine came right out, what was holding it in place to begin with, and how do I reinstall it in the New Master Cylinder.
Thanks

When I did that mod the same thing happened to me too. No worrys unless your brake pedal is goofed up....it won't come out far enough to pull the rod out.

Re: 1967 Mustang I6 200 All Drum Manual Brakes

That spring clip on the end of the pushrod is supposed to snap into a groove inside the mc piston.  Usually they are really tough to get out.  Be sure when you pull your brake pedal back towards the seat as hard as you can that the pushrod cannot fall out of the master cylinder.  Most brake pedals have a lever at the top acting as a positive stop to keep it from coming back too far, but some do not have it.

Take a look at my Granada disc brake installation page on my website.  I show one method there to remove the rod.  Grab the rod with a vise and use two pry levers to lever up on the flanges.  That plus a few choice words and it usually comes out.
