1969 MACH 1 351 W A/C TOP DRIVERS SIDE ALTERNATOR LOWER PASS SIDE.
ORDERED A NEW 140 AMP 1 WIRE ALTERNATOR AND IT WON'T FIT THE CASE HITS THE HEAD. IF I SPACE IT OUT THE BELT ENDS UP WHERE THE A/C BELT GOES NOW.
THE ALTERNATOR I HAVE NOW IS A 45 AMP THAT I HAD BOOSTED TO 75 AMP. THE BACK HALF OF THE CASE IS NARROWER.

How many slots do you have on your crankshaft Pulley? I had to shift my single wire upgrade a little and tie into a different slot on my March lower pulley.

Maybe try the 93 Taurus 3G alternator? It has smaller case. I jut ordered one for my car, and I hope it fits because I have a similar configuration as the 70 351W 3-belt system. (pulleys and spacing changed between 69 and 70.)

The Ford 3G alternator series comes in large case and small case versions. The vintage Mustangs require the small case such as the 93 Taurus mentioned by Mustang Steve. To install the 3G alternator in the stock location requires the 180 degree clocking of the mounting ears. The 93 Taurus alternator is a 3 wire (which gives better voltage regulation) that requires a special connector plug that you can buy on eBay for $15.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
