My mustang body has metal etch primer on alot of the body. Its going to be awhile before It gets the rest of the body work and painted. What should I do to seal it and keep it from rusting in the mean time?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, but unfortunately its past that point. It has metal etch primer on it and is starting to signs of surface rust where it’s been touched.

Curious, why'd he choose etching primer over epoxy? Seems like that would have been the better option.

You need to seal it up witha good coat of primer. I was a little confused when you said it was showing signs of rust where it was touched. If that was on bare metal, sand off rust, etch prime, prime with your choice of regular primer. If the etch primer is showing signs of rust, I would sand back to bare metal to get rid of rust, etch prime and regular prime.
Regular primer can be 2k urethane or many other choices. If you are going to use a rattle can I would get it from a paint shop . Some epoxy can be used over bare metal , over your etch primer, and as a sealer before paint. You usually have to buy epoxy by the gallon and it is quite pricey. Eastwood does sell qaurts, not sure of qaulity.

I think epoxy would have been a better option, especially if its going to be a while before the rest of the bodywork is going to be done. I had someone helping me and etching primer is what they suggested.
Thanks for the help.

The metal etch is fine as a base, then it should have been sealed with a 2k/epoxy primer.
Now you may have to go back and area/spot sand, then etch and 2k seal.
