Cobra brake kit on Rod&Custom IFS

Planning out my engine swap for my 66 mustang. Going with a 4.6 DOHC from a Mach 1 and using the Rod&Custom IFS to make room. I really want to use the Mach 1 brakes on this as well. Can anyone tell me if Mustang Steve's MII kit will work on a Rod&Custom IFS?

Re: Cobra brake kit on Rod&Custom IFS

The Rod&Custom 2" lowering spindles (supposedly Mustang II) have the brake mounting points relocated for some unknown reason.  They are different than all other MII spindles in that regard.  So, the brackets in my original configuration do not match up!   But, if you tell me before you order them that you are going with R&C spindles, I can leave the anti-vibration bracket off (normally comes welded).

Then you can bolt the brackets to the spindles, bolt the anti-vibration bracket to the spindle and have them welded in their revised location.  It is about 1/4" off from the original pattern.  You may have to elongate or redrill one of the other mounting holes.  The welded bracket is not really structural as far as braking forces, but should be properly welded by someone who knows what they are doing.

When I weld them, they are bolted to a stock MII spindle, which has been verified to match a Heidt's 2" drop MII spindle.  R&C changed something...

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.
