The "other" Project

I am at a standstill on the Mustang until I get my garage situated. So I figured I might as well get going on my 1995 1st Gen Lightning with hopes that it *should* be much easier to get running... Appearence wise it's pretty solid just needs a ton of cleaning, both from sitting so long and the jerks that broke in to my storage building and stood all over it along with dragging things down the side of the truck (they stole all of my tools plus a lot of hi po parts). Shortblock is still in good shape so it's getting a set of alum heads, custom cam, full on Megasquirt EFI, and a Novi 2000.

Re: The "other" Project

Raymond,  I read a lot about Megasquirt when it was being developed back in the '90s but never built one....you used to be able to build your own, guess that's not so now.  Anyway, keep us informed as you do that project.  I was always intrigued by the  Megasquirt idea.

Now...what's a Novi 2000?

Hi BB, you can still build your own, but they also offer pre-assembled units. I picked up the MS3/MS3X combo assembled for 659.00 -10% when it went on sale a couple of weekends ago. Check out www.diyautotune.com. So far the feature list is incredible compared to the cost, we'll see how it performs. I've been slowly planning out my harness. it's not going to be a parrallel install, but more of an overlay. I am not making any irreversable changes to the truck so the stock harness will be 100% intact if I ever wanted to go back to the stock EEC.

The Novi 2000 is a centrifigal blower made by Paxton

Re: The "other" Project

Small update for BB I am replacing the carpet (darn squirrles and Pecans) and getting in some Fatmat. Decided I might as well test the mounting location, fits perfect. The main unit will be easy to get to.

Also in case you're interested I *LOVE* these Delphi HES (Harsh Environment Series) connectors. Shells are roughly 20.00 ea. and the terminals are 0.20 ea or so depending on the size. This is a 47 pin connector that can accomidate 42 smaller gauge wire connectors and 5 larger. I got lucky and the truck had a plate blocking off a factory hole in the FW. So I just had to cut a 1.75" hole in the plate for the connector body.

Can't wait to get it going, if it works as well as it's supposed to the Mustang will be getting the exact same set up. Which means, full sequential injection, distributorless ignition with 8 LS2 coils (cam and crank sensor), Flex fuel sensor, data logging to an SD card, bluetooth connectivity, wideband O2 control, and so many other items at a fraction of the cost of a full on EFI setup.
