Distributer cap

What year did the cap change to the male connections at the top, will the newer cap and rotor fit the original style  1968 Autolite distributer?

Re: Distributer cap

They changed in the late 80's. You can either buy, or source from the yard the cap adapter. I picked one up from an early 90's lincoln with a 302. When you buy the rotor, get it for an 85 mustang. it will be taller and shaped like a triangle. Put that rotor and cap on your distributor and use the new style (fox mustang) plug wires.

When I checked, rockauto.com has all three parts you need. $20 for a good ccap and rotor and $5 for the adapter. All under 85 mustang 5.0.
