Got my sandblast on yesterday. But the paint bubbled.

Theres tiny bubles in the paint.  It rained yesterday so it was quite humid. Maybe paint not like the primer?   This has never happened to me before.  First time Ive used that primer  Any ideas?

Rustoleum  rusty metal primer.
Rustoleum  Gloss engine  black

These are parts for the Galaxie.   I found an original bell crank assembly, and going back to this and an original booster on the car.  I havent liked my E 150 booster, with modified pedal pin.  (of course, I proably didnt do something right)   Should have had MSteve engineer it for me.

Re: Got my sandblast on yesterday. But the paint bubbled.

Take a close look and tell us if the imperfections are bubbles or dust nibs.  When I use the same paint I get lots of dust nibs.  When using Rustoleum you have to adhere to the label instructions:  recoat with one hour of the previous coat or wait more than 48 hours.  Recoating within the 1-48 hour window will often lift the previous coat, looking like bubbles.

When I've recoated within that 1-48 hr. window, the paint wrinkled. Terribly.

Re: Got my sandblast on yesterday. But the paint bubbled.

This is definately frothy type fine bubbles, and it only happened in a few spots on each piece.   Maybe I didnt let something dry well enough.   I know its not from handling.  (oils)

Ive painted a gazillion things with spray cans over the years, and while glossys can obviously show that uneven appearance,  this is definately a new one on me

I just wondered if maybe it was something in that new primer "rusty metal" formula.  Thats what my wife got for me when she was headed to the big W store and I asked her to pick me up a new can.   I had never tried it.   I think Im going to reread that primer can.  Im wondering if it needed different drying time that what I was used to with regular rustoleum primer.   I dunno.
