Hello Mustang Enthusiasts, I have a 1968 Ford Mustang currently with a 6 cylinder engine (4 lug - drum brake). From what I have read/researched (both inside and outside bearings are the same size), it looks like the 68 Mustang 6 cylinder drum spindles are the same as 68 Mustang 8 cylinder drum spindles, is this correct? I am in the process of converting the motor over to a 5.0 carburetored motor. With this conversion comes upgrading to 5 lug all around. I already have a set of 99 Ford Mustang Cobra rear brakes but haven't located a gently used set of Cobra front brakes yet. I do have access to a set of 2004 Ford Mustang V6/GT PBR two piston front calipers. I was wondering if there is a conversion kit for this type of conversion (might not be worth it) or if the front Cobra conversion kit would work.
Also, I am located in the Denver area, does anyone know of any salvage yards that specialize in strictly newer Ford vehicles that may have Cobra parts. Please let me know when you get moment. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I answered your brake parts question via email.
Maybe someone else can help with finding a wrecking yard, but if they are like they are in Dallas, no Cobras ever make it to the yard. Usually swap meets or craigslist are best sources for used stuff.
Try RockAuto for rebuilt calipers.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
