Door panel/mirror bezel

I'm going to be removing the door panel on my 67. It has a mirror that you can control from the inside. The bezel on the knob, is it supposed to unthread clockwise or counter clockwise. Trying not to force it. Thanks, Brian

There is a tool available to fit into the bezel to prevent damage to it, I made one from some scrap steel and a piece of broom handle

Re: Door panel/mirror bezel

I'm assuming you did take the control knob out first, this makes it much easier. Also be aware of the flat washer  like thing that is kind of inbedded in the panel, so when you tighten it, it won't just spin around. If it still won't come off, put some tape around the edges for protection, and use pliers, or vice grips, shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Door panel/mirror bezel

Thanks guys. I'll try taking out the lever, but I think I'm going to try some penetrating oil and I might invest in the tool too.

Re: Door panel/mirror bezel

FYI -  I ended up using this tool Sunex 392101 - Remote Control Mirror Socket. I little cheaper than the one that is specifically made for the mustangs.  Did get it out but it was really stuck on there. Brian

Re: Door panel/mirror bezel

Are you changing the door panel,or just removing it to get to the door insides? If your changing the panel, don't forget the little aligning washer that fits in the panel.

Re: Door panel/mirror bezel

Thanks for the tip. I'm just taking a look inside cause the lock isn't working right. It may just need some grease.
