I am pretty sure the squeak is coming from the upper control arm on the driver's side. What steps do I take to stop the squeak? I have greased the control armbut, apparently it is not taking the grease.

A common ailment. As far as I know your only option is to remove it and take it apart. MS has a link on his page for a remedy for this. It involves cutting a thin groove from the tips of the shafts back to the oring seal. The cut is made on the top of the shafts as they bear the weight on the bottom of the shaft. This groove allows grease to flow all along the threads then up into them.

Actually, the top of the shaft bears the weight of the car, so you cut the slot in the BOTTOM of the shaft.
Pumping grease into the control arm bushings can sometimes be accomplished by having a helper bounce the car up and down while you pump the grease into the bushing zerks.

If you push up on the bushing with a pry bar while the gease is being pumped in, the squeak should stop. That trick works for me.
By pushing up on the bushing, your opening up a space above the threads of the shaft so the grease will flow over the shaft instead of under it.

Great suggestion, John. As it turned out, Al had some high pressure grease guns pumping that bushing full last weekend, and the squeak remained. That is, until he drove it down a really bumpy road. Bouncing around on that pavement, it must have unloaded the bushing enough to let the grease get through, so he is now SILENT AL as far as a squeaking front end.
