Hi I recently replaced the Clutch / Brake Pedal Support and the Problem I'm having now is I was told the Old upper Clutch Rod was the wrong one, who knew... so got the new one and now it wont fit properly, its rubbing the hole on the firewall, and I cant even get the boot back in. any suggestions would be appreciated as always.

Maybe you were given the wrong info and the old rod was the proper one. Can you re-use it?....and would that eliminate your fit issue?

Thanks Boomyal, to be honest Im not sure, the old rod is pretty messed up to re use and according to what I've seen in publications the new rod is the proper one but the old one did fit much better and will eliminate the fitting issue even though it belongs to a 69 model year..Just want to have done right.
Thanks

Any chance you can re-bend the new one? It is easy to see how the new one does not come thru the center of the firewall hole due to the location of the bend.

Your old rod was a 69-70 rod. Maybe your linkage is 69-70 as well and that's why the 67 rod doesn't fit.

Yeah thats pretty much what I was thinking about, at least 1/4- 1/2 " I guess wouldnt hurt trying.
Thanks

Now that I'm more aware of it I've checked everthing else and it all looks 67, at least by the book and while searching for parts for it...

Looks like it is pointing the wrong way in the z-bar hole, and needs to be bent.

I've tried both directions where the long part in the pedal, as well as the short end, still hitting, will try the bending, its pretty stout, its going to need heat/

Thanks to all for the advice, bent it and its a perfect fit, as long as it doesnt effect anything I'm good to go. Thanks again

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
