    Strut rods on a 66 Mustang..........

    Are they suppose to be straight...or curved(slightly)?
    Do I need to get after it with a BFH and anvil?
    Is "being straight" that big-uva-deal? Hasn't caused any wear issues yet on my tires!

    They were originally straight.  Anything with a curve in it shortens the distance from end to end, so the bent one is holding the LCA on that side farther forward than the other side.  It may be so small a difference the shims were used on the UCA to get caster to same angle on both sides.  BUT, I would think the side with the bend has the entire wheel assembly positioned a tiny bit farther forward than the side with the straight one.  Enough to matter?  Seems like your car makes it down the road as good as anyone else's...

    The rods are straight (the through-holes are in-line with the centerline of the shaft) but the but if you look at them from the side, the portion that bolts to the LCA is bent at a slight angle.  I just had six rods threaded for rod-end mods and all 6 had the same angle.  I don't have a picture handy that shows this but essentially it is angled so that the LCA is not twisted at normal ride height.  The rods are not right and left-handed - you just mount them with the angle the same on both sides.

    I've got an original pair that I recently took off the '66 (V8) - they're yours for shipping from California if it turns out you need one or two, bushings are even in good shape.

    I'll keep that in mind,and appreciate it too! Will put them back on maybe tommorow and.....asess the situation.
