Shelby dash pod

Has anyone had any experience with the Shelby dash pod and what gauges will fit in the dash pod?  Thanks

Re: Shelby dash pod

I installed one for a customer once, about 20 years ago.  The pod was the biggest piece of junk I have ever worked on.  It had a 3-3/8" tachometer and a 2" oil pressure gauge (my memory says 2" - I don't think it was 2-5/8" since those didn't exist in 65.)  It was flimsy ABS plastic and you have to drill holes in a perfectly good dash pad to install it.  I would not do it unless I had a concours 65 Shelby.

Re: Shelby dash pod

Truth known, I'm not to wild about making a hole in my dash.  Where is a good place to mount a tach on a '65  dash?  With the motor I'm putting in my Fastback, I really need a tach on it.  Thanks

Re: Shelby dash pod

Probably the easiest way is a rally pak.

I also added some two sided eblem tape to the sides to make it lay flat on top of the dash. Also can't remember if your sopposed to, or if I just did it, I ran two into the bottom to hold it up to the pad..

Re: Shelby dash pod

here is a option. I use the screw from my defrost vent to hold mine in place.  Got the idea from Doug.

Here is my car.  I ran the wires down the vent in the dash.. Easy and can be removed with out any damage to the car or the tach.

you can also do the steering column

Board footera
