has an Exploder 8.8 in their 65/66.
Corky asked me to post some pix when I figured out exactly how to hook up the parking brake to the Explorer rear discs. This rearend used a small drum cast into the rear disc and a set of small shoes for the parking brake function. I had all manner of fine ideas to connect things...and make it real complicated. It finally hit me that there was really a very simple solution.
The Exp. uses a long cable/housing from the right side that runs across the axle, bends forward and joins with the shorter cable/housing from the left brake. Then a single long cable and housing runs forward and connects to the p-brake pedal. Just so happens that I have two rearends and both had the full p-brake cable assembly on them.
I used two left side (short) Exp. p-brake cables/housings and two right side forward cable section, cable only, no housing.
I considered using the stock 66 cable/housing assembly and it could be made to work but that's when I figured out this easier way...I think.
This is the right side cable connected to the p-brake arm.
The housing runs very similar to the stock p-brake housings. The "loop" in my muffin hanger made a nice "guide".
I terminated both housings at a couple of very fancy brackets that I made from a chunk of 1/8 X 2" angle. These bolt to the floor under the rear seat through the use of back-up plates to strengthen the sheet metal. I considered moving the original brackets but that seemed like a lot of work if I didn't need to move them for cable clearance. As you can see, there were no clearance issues.
This pic also shows the Exp factory cable couplers. These are the cat's XXX so be sure you get them with the boneyard cables/housings.
Here's a better shot of the housing brackets, from the front.
And, here are the cables joined at the stock pull-point.
It seems to work well but I think I'm going to add a couple of inches to the tranverse lever to get a little better leverage. These small drum brakes don't have the mechanical advantage that the stock drum brakes have so a little extra leverage should help.

Looks good, used a little ingenuity to keep it simple.

That looks very clean BB, nice job. The only thing I might consider differently would be to weld the bolts for the brackets to the inside plate, then the nuts would be on the bottom(wouldn't have to remove the seat to take the brackets off) Although you will probably never have to remove them. I've learned this the hard way on some brackets I've mounted on my car. And mine were harder that removing a seat.

Mike: That's a very good idea. I never think of stuff like that until I have to tear half the car apart to fix something. Now's the time, Thanks.
Sal: That's the same exh it's always had, only when we removed it for all the metal/body work we cut off the tail pipes. I hung it back on for test-fire and will have some new muffflers and tail pipes hung on as I finish the car. As for the 3.55 gears, I've had 3.55s in the stock rearend so no change with the Exp. except no it has Track-Lok. That ratio works very well with the AOD. Wakes up pretty quick but calms right down on the highway. It's turning about 2200 at 70.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. It was really a simple fix. The stock p-brake cable could be used for the forward cable but you'd need to engineer a way to coupe the stock cable to the Explorer cable. The have similar swagged ends but not exactly the same. For me this was easier.
