Agree LOL! . Yeah I'd do ah full skin on that one. Good news is, it looks like you caught it just in time, before it rotted the door shell.

I feel for you, both of mine are worse than that with some inner metal replacement coming too. I am trying to save as much original as possible, and am cutting up the two after market doors I bought earlier for the patches. I had the new ones on the car and was about to paint when I decided they just weren't good enough. WAY too flimsy.

The last time I was at the decatur swap meet there were two guys trying to sell a 65 drivers side door complete with glass for $50. I did not have room in my truck. They told me they had been trying to sell it for several months and were tired of hauling it around. Probaly could talked them down to $30.

MS bought that door.

Wow! Even my New York doors aren't that bad! Good thing is that it is just metal and can be easily repaired. I hope that is not from your 2+2.

A great place for POR-15 after the repair.

This is the door that has been on my car forever. It is the original door. An ill-fated attempt at rust repair can be seen, and that repair, done by a local body shop, lasted two weeks before it started bubbling through the paint. The door that was purchased at Decatur last year is the donor for the patch panel.

Are you going to take it back to your local restoration house there to have them match the paint?

OUCH!
Or you could just let Ramses get some more practice.

A few other areas are being reworked as well. Both headlight doors, both front fenders, both doors, both quarter panels, the hood, rear quarter end caps and the decklid will be blocked to correct contours and repainted. Other than that, it is pretty much OK as is.

Glad to hear it, Steve. YOU will be happy, and you will know it is done to your satisfaction, and you will be one more step further away from the aggravation of someone else's substandard workmanship.
So, how long will we have to wait to find out what color it will be?
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
