Need Motivation

Everyone,
I have a lot to get done on my Mach 1 before Setember gets here, and I am really hurting in the motivation department. I spent the winter doing a complete assembly of a 66 coupe from rotisserie to turn key driver for a guy I go to church with (I hate repop parts). I also did the crown vic swap, motor build, and rear end flip my 79 F100. I have four kids under the age of 14, so most of my car time comes during late nights. I think I am just getting burned out, my boys want to go to cruise-ins and I just have no interest.

I am stating all this because I really want to meet all you guys in September, and I would like to drive the Mach1, cometically it doesn't look like much but I still like it. I came out well dollar wise on the trade of my 68 for this car with the boot I got, but there is a lot of labor that I am starting all over with.

I am going to post some photos of what I am starting with so you all will either be impressed with what I get done, or you will understand why I didn't get finished in time. My family comes first, so I guess we will see what happens. I have already told my eleven year old that he would get to miss school on the thursday and friday of the bash, so we will be there. I just have no ideal what we will be driving, but what ever it is it will be safe, reliable, and comfortable.

Re: Need Motivation

With kids around 14 it's prime bonding time with Daddy. Give'm memories that will last their whole lives. Put them rascalls to workin with Ya, and get to know'em even better.
No I have no children, I just remember all the times with my Unkle Hank. Working on and building cars, boats & light aircraft.

Re: Need Motivation

Well, you have a goal, and you have a deadline.

For me, the hardest part is just getting started.   Try to finish one thing completely and move on to the next thing.  I am right there with you, trying to get my 66 put back together.  From seeing how quickly you did that CV swap on the truck, you should have no trouble making it.

Re: Need Motivation

I agree with Tubo. I got my boys out in the garage when they were young. My oldest, JediDave on the forum, still comes over and wrenches with me. Good times.

Re: Need Motivation

Yep, get them out there helping you while you teach them about this hobby.........of my three kids, one never was interested in learning any of that "car stuff", and now when it comes to cars, he's like a dog staring at a television........

Motivation: you have a Mach.............we have a Bash.............you need that car to transport you to the Bash so we can have us a good time..........,................now, like the California Pistachio commercial says, "Get Crackin"........

Re: Need Motivation

Thanks for the pep talk guys, I believe I was just feeling a little overwhelmed today lookig at all the clean up and detail work ahead of me as I drug the rear end out from under the car, while its in the air with everything out of the frontend as well. As far as the kids go, my 14 year old daughter has no desire to work on them, but insist that she will be driving the F100 (I don't think so), my eleven year old son seems to be interested and will help from time to time, and then theres my 6 year old twin boys, one of them can not get enough of the garage and the tools, and his brother could care less, but he loves to ride in them.

I will see you guys in setember, driving someting, built by me and Ford.

I will send photos soon, and keep you updated on my progress.

Re: Need Motivation

So I'm addicted..............so WHAT!!!!!!
Couple of years back BILLY WALTON and I caravaned to Dallas and his youngster went with him. They REALLY seemed to have a good time together. Hope Dillon comes to this years bash. Be a real treat to see how much he's grown.
First bash I attended.....my 66 looked like an easter egg. SEVERAL different colors of primer!  Ain't nobody even acted like I had a funny look'in Mustang. I" fit in" just like all the other guys with the high-dollar show car Mustangs.  Its more about the guyz than the carz, anywho!!
