Metal fuel line

I have gone to autozone and oreillys to get 3/8" fuel line I can bend between my mechanical fuel pump and carb. Both places say they don't stock that stuff. Where do you guys get it?  66 with 351w and Holley double pumper.

Re: Metal fuel line

I get mine from OReilly's or Autozone.  Find a countermonkey that has his head where he can see forward.

Re: Metal fuel line

Tell him you need a thermostat for a '66 VW Beetle, then while he's looking that up ask another guy where they keep the metal brake line.  The fuel line will be right there with it.

Re: Metal fuel line

Just buy some brake line.   I beleive the one end of the line was the correct size that went into my fuel pump.   I also insulated my line once I bent it with a rubber line.

Re: Metal fuel line

They all have it, but the kids working there don't realize that most of the parts they sell can actually be used for something other than what the computer tells them.

Ask for brake line. Then when they look confused, walk back there with them and pick out the one you need. Be sure you are getting the double flare line and not the buble flare line. This way you can use the pre-flared end to screw into your pump. The people at my local parts houses know me by name since I always have crazy requests that are not going to be in the computer...but they have what I need.

Re: Metal fuel line

Brake line might be a bit small t make a fuel line out of...

Just tell them you need to use the restroom.  The steel tubing is hanging on a rack right outside the restroom door.  It is dark green and most of it is pre-bent.  Not to any particular shape or fitment, just bent.

Re: Metal fuel line

i asked them for an axle seal for a Ford 8 inch rear axle.  "What year of vehicle"?  I told them it was for a '32 Ford.  To the catalog they go.  "They didn't put a 8-inch in a '32 Ford"  DUH!  Someont that knew something finally, " said      P/N is,*****, is what he needs.  Just getting to the right person works wonders.

Re: Metal fuel line

I usually use the internet site to look up the parts I need and before I go to the store, especially if it's something that is not stock to the car.  OReilly's site lets you build a list and print it so that when you go to the store, all you have to do is hand the counterperson the list (and check the stuff they bring out before paying to make sure they pulled the right thing).
