So I'm watching Adam-12.. (not as off topic as you might think)

.. and the 69 Plymouth that our heros were driving does a U-turn left, and the outside (right) wheel nearly rolled under the car.  Now assuming that I don't know much about suspension geometry (not a stretch), am I right in concluding the car had very little positive caster angle which caused the positive camber issue on that outside tire in the turn?

Trying to picture this in my mind, it seems that if the car had more positive caster, the outside wheel would exhibit negative camber if the wheel were turned inward, no?

Any suspension skooling appreciated...

I think you're right John. I proved it to myself with a round piece of paper with a line for the center-line between the upper and lower control arms. Tilt the top forward and the bottom rolls in on an outside turn.
I'd say you know more than you think you do to figure that one out.

LOL.  I used a stale Oreo cookie and a straightened out paper clip.  My wife still thinks I'm nuts...

Getting back to this,  yesterday I was at a customer's house, and he had a 69 Chevelle parked inside his garage which he showed to my brother and me.  The wheels were  turned to the right as it was parked, and the top of the driver side tire was leaning outward.  If the car was moving, it would heel over on the sidewall a bit.

The reason I've been thinking a lot about this is that I saw a fairly new Mercedes being parked while shopping a couple of weeks ago, and while the driver was cutting the car into the parking place, the wheels showed extreme camber angles when turned.  So whereas the top of the Chevelle's outboard tire was tilted outward, the bottom of the Mercedes outboard tire was tilted out, as if it were bracing itself in a turn (picture the way a skiier cambers his skis in a turn).
