Cigarette lighter wiring.......

I've been busy doing a few updates on my 65 coupe - installing an AC kit and a new stereo among other things - and I decided that I should finally get the lighter working after over 30 years of owning this car. Well - I'll be darned if I can find the wire that should be plugged into the back of the lighter! There are a few open female plugs, but none of them are constant 12 volts - they are only hot with the ignition in the "on" or "acc" position, and none of them are off of the cigarette lighter fuse. Does anyone know what color/stripe wire I should be looking for under there? I'm working from under the dash, as I would really rather not remove the instrument cluster again. I guess after all this time I can live without it, but it would be nice to be able to plug in the GPS or a phone charger. Any help would be great - Thanks.

Re: Cigarette lighter wiring.......

Blue- white wire.  It should be the wire coming straight from the fuse block.

Re: Cigarette lighter wiring.......

Yes Blue-White all by itself unless you have 4 way flashers then it is tapped with an orange-yellow wire.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.
