Rack & Pinion

I have a 67 coupe that I had installed the RRS power rack and pinion kit.  I always had a bit of groaning when turning at slow speeds and operation wasn't real smooth.  I had swapped out the factory pump for the KRC aluminum pump still didn't work right. Swapped in several diff valves in the KRC pump still a problem.  I had pretty much accepted this operation for the last few years until recently I decided again to try ad figure this out.  I had some nice braided lines made that had 90 degree fitting on one end and straight fitting on the rack end with a 90 degree adapter to make it easy to install without worrying about having the fitting clocked perfect,  had wondered if that was the issue.  Recently removed the adapters still didn't work right.  Thinking it could be the lines I had made I order some of the AeroQuip high pressure line and re-useable fitting you can install at home.  Finally works like it should. Very gratifying finally getting it right.

Mean while I had come across a good deal bought another TCP power rack & TCP pump with reservoir so if you know anyone who is thinking about getting a TCP rack I may be able to give them a good deal. The rack and pump retails for over $3,000 and this one hasn't been used.

Re: Rack & Pinion

So, was the line too small?

Re: Rack & Pinion

That is my assumption.

I had discussed what i needed when I had the shop make the hoses and that is the kind of work they do and they looked great. Braided stainless with nice hose ends crimped on.

Unfortunately for my set up it just didn't work.

Re: Rack & Pinion

It retailed for almost $3,100.

I would like to get $2,500 for everything.

I could probably do a little better for a forum member.
