Yes. I have.
So tight that you can see where i had to relieve the header flange to keep it off the shock towers...and run a torque strap
After 10 years of fighting cooling issues with a griffen radiator that fit the stock opening...I gave up, opened up the support a little and put something in that guarantees cool running ;)

Ohh and with...or without....the stock hood ;)

Nick...thats tighter then a bull frogs behind...a local Mustanger wants to buy my Cleveland for his 66 FB...thanks for the pics... how do you change the spark plugs....jj

I take the valve cover off and I am able to change the spark plugs using a socket, a universal swivel, and 2 extensions....I never bust a knucle.
I thought you sold that cleveland months ago? Or am I thinking about a different awesome cleveland stroker from texas?

Hi Dodge-
Quick question on your after market hood. Did you have to install the hood pins to keep the hood closed or did you add them solely for aesthetics? I ask because I am installing the same hood on my 64.5 vert right now and, with the hood closed and resting on the rad support, it doesn't look like the factory hood latch will work correctly (haven't installed the hood latch to verify though) and one of the options we've been discussing is hood pins.

My hood has the 'metal' frame on the inside so I scewed my pin into it and latched it with the stock setup....drove around the block at low speed...and immediately ordered pins to help keep it on because it moved around too much for comfort.....plus with a trap speed of 120+ and a heavy use street car at highway speeds for prolonged periods....better safe than sorry ;)
Ohh and to get it to latch...I did have to shove some 1 inch spacers on the latch mechanism to get it to line up with the pin in the hood

Thanks. My hood also has the metal frame and it sounds like you experienced the same issues that I am expecting when I try to use the stock latch mechanism (looks like I'll need some spacers to make it latch too). I guess hood pins are in my future too.

Wow super tight fit, but I bet that bad boy rips!!

If you look close in this photo you can see my spacers behind the latching mechanism

Thanks for that pic. One more question, what hood pins did you use and where did you mount them?
Sorry JerseyJoe for hijacking your thread!

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
