How much lasting do I leave on the headliner?

MS and I have been working on my '65 fastback. How much should I cut back on the lasting? Do I cut it back to the bend in the bow so that I may pull it taut into the wind lace?  A big shout of THANKS to MS for helping me!

Re: How much lasting do I leave on the headliner?

Maybe an upholstery expert will chime in...

I went home and measured the ones on my fastback.  The lastings end 3" above the edge of the door opening, where the windlace fits on.

Also, did you say you had the original headliner?  That would be the best thing to measure.

We almost had that thing whipped!  Until it whipped us !!!    Luckily, headliners are like Doritos.  They will always make more.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: How much lasting do I leave on the headliner?

MS,
I found the old one! I measured it this morning and have the following:
Rear 1-1/2"
Middle 2"
Front 3"

I will try this first as a baseline. Thank you again for all your help! I am ordering two headliners so I have a back up.
