Stripping and repainting valve covers on my 65 mustang/289c. Question is do I need gasket sealer on new cork gaskets.
Offline
Glue the gasket to the clean valve cover with contact cement...oil the head side of the gasket when ready to install....jj

Up to you, but I've never had any luck with cork gaskets. They always seem to seep oil. Years back I switched to metal core rubber gasklets and have had no further issues on anything I've used them on. As a side benfit they don't need sealer or glue and are thus reuseable.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
