1969 Mustang Borgeson Swap! Any Info Is Good Info

Hey All, I decided to Go through with the Borgeson PS Box Conversion.  But I only Purchased the Lower Rag Joint and Box itself.......Nothing more (as in didnt purchase a Full Kit).

So My Current and Very Important Question at this point is :

Does anyone know the Nut Size and Thread Pattern of FACTORY FORD PS lines?  I purchased those new 7rs go and would like to continue using them with adapters.  Spoke with a Borgeson Rep. and he informed me that the Ports on the Box are "16mm X 1.5 flare connections"
(which I find strange Given the USA still uses Imperial/Standard and not metric.........soooo???)

anyhow once I get the PS line nut fastening ends I can determine what is needed to adapt

regards,
Jeff

The Borg box is of overseas origin, so will have metric fittings

Not strange when you consider that the box Borgeson modifies was standard on Isuzu Troopers, Rodeos and some other Japanese cars.

Do you have enough room on your hose to remake the end?  If so,  here is where you can get 16mm flare fittings.

Edelman 39120

Buy 2 use one for the return hose, and the other for the pressure hose.

I have looked around, never could find the fittings by themselves,  I went and robbed some from an Izuzu at a pick in pull.

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

+1 for Greg's suggestion. I cut the end from my high pressure line, put the right tubing nut on there and then flared it. It weeped a bit of fluid for a few months before it stopped leaking. I used brake line for the low pressure return and did one of those simple heat exchanger zig-zags like Ford does on the newer cars (as in newer than my coupe). It has been my daily driver for almost five years and I have not had to add any fluid.

I made braided lines myself with aeroquip AN fittings and hose and AN adapter fittings that borgeson sells that fit the box. Got an AN to o ring adapter fitting for the pump also.  Very pleased with the setup,  it has not leaked or caused any issues. But this is part of our campaign to avoid paying anyone to do anything to our car so it may not be worth it to you.
