4r70w swap into 66 mustang

I am swapping out 5.0 and 4r70w out of 97 explorer into a  66 mustang .  I thought I could use a aod crossmember  but now I am  not sure. Any help would be  appreciated. Also if anyone has a  reasonable price crossmember for  sale

Re: 4r70w swap into 66 mustang

You will need a swap crossmember to fit your car. You will have to decide on a shifter type; newer cable operated or original '66, if it is already an automatic. If cable, you adapt the shifter to the car. If original, you adapt the trans range selector switch to work with a shift rod, which is what I did on my '66.
Joe Persad sells a kit with crossmember, shift rod and range selector mount adapter for $225 shipped. (premiergenerator@gmail.com) There is no provision for the e-brake bracket on the 65-66 crossmembers. Others here have done this swap. Search for more info on tail housing change to AOD, fixture tab interference and drive shaft length.
