so with my 69 Mustang, I have mentioned Im doing the swap but apparently theres been known issues with a Factory Pump on the Borgeson Box during idle.
So my Theory and idea is to Find and/or make a smaller pulley for it. I figure the RPM increase should keep a consistent increased flow during idle and possibly enhanced performance during driving.
Anyhow, does anyone know of a Factory Ford Pulley that is between 3 3/4" and 4 1/4" ? anything in that range. If not WHat the DIAMETER is of the Factory Pumps from the 60's and early 70's?
last option is universal ones that would fit, worst case I would cut out the center and re-weld OEM center hole mount shank fitting thingy

I'm curious, why is it important that power steering work at idle? Any steering works better with a little bit of accelerator pedal and at least a couple mph.

For what it's worth, I have a Borgeson on the 66 with a 5.0 pump. Works fine at idle and at 80mph.

Also 5.0 pump and others will bolt on the the stock backet. The oem pump when at idle the psi range is about 1,500- 1,700psi. A newer rack or integral parallelagram steering system operates at about 800psi. New pump or drilling out the orfice in the high pressure fitting will solve the issue. 94 3.8l taurus pump will also fits in oe bracket. A lot of ford pumps from 60s-mid 90s will fit fords power steering backet you just will need to pull the serpentine pulley off of some. Or you could pull an explorer serpentine bracket set up plus the pump and the alternator and you'd have a great setup.
