Congrats. I have to agree: love a road trip to get a Mustang. Mine is taking forever, with lots of twists and turns. One thing I have learned, is no matter how pretty they look on the outside, there IS hidden rust. It is inevitible.
Seeing all the pics of your previous work, you are clearly a man to take on a challenge! Good luck. These convertibles are weird creatures with some unique features.

While we are waiting on the results of Ed & Anna's GREAT ADVENTURE, here is a link to a similar road trip Mr Tim and I took to snag a convertible.

As they have sensibly chosen the correct time of year to do this, and ain't going anywhere near as far north. They are already going to have MUCH better weather.

Anna and I made it home safe without any issues. Long three days to Alabama and back. I left two 66 coupes there for the taking. One is a 6 cylinder non running, the other is a running V8. Both need a full rebuild.

Well, we see you brought it home. What was your evaluation of condition? Pics look pretty good.

First look. Floor pans were horribly attempted at repair. It had been rear ended at some point and bondo filled to repair. I didn't find any other bondo areas. Interior was mostly removed, but the parts are there. The body panels that were pulled are all in the trunk or in the car. I found some new parts thrown into the car. Haven't had a chance to dig it all out. We got it home and under cover. I have to start prepping for work tomorrow. I knew the car was rough and wasn't disappointed in that opinion. Shoudl keep me busy for a few years. Anna already has a color picked out.

She really likes the new Mustang Impact Blue.
I had a chance to look a little closer at the car. The floor pans might not be as bad as I thought. Back tail light panel should be changed which will fix the only place I can find any bondo. Look like it was lightly rear ended at one point then just bondo fixed. My focus is getting shop cleaned out to park this thing. TOo many projects to start on it for another month or so.

More pictures, underhood, interior please.

Ed, there hasen't been a start to finish Mustang build on the Forum in quite a while...I don't think ever for a complete documented Buy to First Bash.
Start one on Your Mustang Pictures and History We'll all enjoy this one.

Mochaman, to post it on the history forum, just make a post showing the picture as you brought it home and show when you got it and what you got, just like this post of yours above, then reply to your own post whenever you have an update. Gonna be fun!

Ed,
When you get into that "light" hit in the rear, take a good look at the rear frame rails. Our's also had a "light" hit in the rear and the tail light panel was full of bondo and the main rear beam between the rails was bent and the right trunk floor was also. After we got it apart the new stuff wouldn't line up correctly and we discovered that the right frame rail was bent down about 3/4 inch which affected everything. Had to apply some heat to wrinkles in the rail right at the apex above the axle, then added a couple of stiffener plates to each side.
Something else to look for...sorry.
The car looks like a great project, I'm all jello. See you and Anna in June, I hope.

Must be a popular place to "hit-a-Mustang" Mine was bent there too. Passenger side.
