66' coupe started as 6cyl. auto. i used a 72 mustang for the parts car 302 as removed , fmx auto,spindels,8" and all new brake components for the [72]parts with 74'maveric manuel master cyl.for a year i have been collecting and preparing for the t5 swap,got mustang steves kit and installed to tore up pedals i was given and put in car.then swap in starter plate,new flywheel ,cobra clutch both ford motor sports,93'world class trans, bell housing,fork,the t5 yoke i got with used shaft had same ujoint cross width at tube side as my orignal 72 tube and installed length on ground was even good almost 1"exposed life is good till time to hook cable up.left down pipe right in center of cable attachment point,no problem back to muffler shop and i get the call you need a different manifold because of power steering cylinder and or pitman becoming to close.the manifold currently exits at #8 down and slightly back ,so the question i wanted to stay with manifolds for cost and simplicity.motor is mellow 302, .60 over,9 to1 or so heads .465 cam.500cfm edelbrock.headers would improve.but semi daily driver for fun any sugestions?

The cable clutch should not have any problems with any cast iron manifolds. 289 Hipo manifolds are my preference.
You got a "PERIOD" key on that keyboard?

Sounds like he has the stock 72 iron manifolds. Shouldn't be a clearance problem even with those. With the cast iron Hi-Po exhaust manifolds there are several choices of direct bolt in exhaust systems. All you have to decide is whether you want 2" or 2 1/4" pipes.

thanks steve...... i guess i wasn't clear the left manifold outlet is in bad location.i saw picture of hipo manifold,and outlet location is what my exhaust guy is looking for.does anyone have a pair for sale?

All the major Mustang parts suppliers have them: Steve's Mustang Parts, CJPony Parts, Mustangs Unlimited, John's Mustang. They run about $360. Ford factory produced used Hi-Po exhaust manifolds are as rare as unicorn horns.

Here is a picture of a MScable clutch used with 289 Hipo manifolds.
