Hello,
I have been looking in from time to time, and wanted to introduce myself, I have three Cougars a 67, 68, 69 ,and am working on a 68 Mustang at this time for a neighbor, and I might have questions and maybe some answer if okay.
I live in S.W. Va. and just wanted to be part of the forum. Thanks

Welcome to the best Mustang forum on the Web. There are lots of guys on here that can answer any question you might have about Mustangs. I always liked the early Cougars. A friend had a 67 when we were in High School.

Welcome. Excellent stable you have there. I've a '67 Mustang myself, so anything you're doing on your neighbor's '68 I've likely already done to my '67. I'm usually cruising around looking to help out a fellow hobbyist.

Welcome to the best darn Forum on the web,
I have tried several and none compare to the group you will find here, heck they are letting me hang around and I sold my Mustang for a Falcon and then sold the Falcon for a Firebird, and they still let me stay.
Maybe its for comic relief once I get into my Pontiac build,
Great group of people,

Welcome to the site. Great group of folks here that can answer most any question.
When can you post pics of the cars???? It's a therapy session for some of us.

Welcome! This forum is pretty good...at least when you ask a question someone here has actually done it before instead of googling the answer and puking it up as a response to you!

OK,to start with, I was doing a little street racing back in the early 70's with a 67 Fairlane post car, after an accident on the interstate which demolished the car I found this 69 which was a R code which was missing the motor and trans. I pulled the running gear from the 67 Fairlane which was a 427 tunnel-port that I had built and trans out of a thunderbolt that my cousin had blown the clutch and bell-housing and destroyed the back of the block. I then put all this in the 69 and decided to keep the racing on the strip.
I raced a lot of tracks in Carolina and Maryland mostly here in Va. The car ran in the low 11. best was 11.27 ,After 3 years of racing we were doing rather well at winning enough to pay for maint. and gas for our trips. My partners wife wanted him to give it up and spend more time at home, and so was the end of our racing. I sold the engine to a friend who put it in a 68 Shelby, we put a 390 in the Mustang and sold to a friend who had a car lot.

Love the first edition Cougars! Welcome!

Hard to beat the stories from the guys who lived them. The first time I went to the track (Cecil County Dragway) was probably 1987 and I was 10. Dad had a '69 Chevelle with an LS6 and a 4 speed. That was probably the first car I spun wrenches on. It ran low 11s too, doing one hell of a wheelstand off the line. Good times. I can't wait to take my son to all that stuff. Already doing the car shows with him, and he loves them. The track's a little noisy and late for him yet, but in a couple years he'll be ready, and I'll have passed on the sickness to the next generation!

I found another picture. That's me with the racing coat.

Welcome aboard, great story. With that haircut no one can argue when that picture was taken.

after retiring from racing, Ron Burgundy started his second career as a TV anchor man..........
Seriously, cool story and nice pic from back in the day......

If you look closely I think you can see Baxter peering over the back seat.

Good decision...joining us here, Badcat. I'm sure you'll be glad you came here. Now...having been a racer in '74 you should be just about retired now. That means there is absolutely no reason you can't be at the bash on June 25. Check out the Bash Forum for room reservation info. Do It! You'll really be glad you did. Again welcome. BB

Welcome - I have a soft spot for the 68 Mustang (I have one) the 67 Mustang (family had one) and the 67 Cougar. My older brother had a 67 XR-7 GT. First car I ever did a real burn out in. 390 with a four speed and nine inch Trac-lok rear end. Boy could it burn!
This is the best forum on the net for Mustangs and Cougars (dressed up Mustangs, right?) Ask away and someone here has probably been there and done that on their car.
