I've installed a '83 T5 into my '66. When I went to reinstall the emergency brake, I found that the equalizer bar struck the tail cone of the transmission. I'm going to need about 3/8" - probably more - of clearance. The car had an automatic before. I reused the old stock transmission mount with the new T-5 swap cross member bar. All the articles I've read about the swap stated I could reuse the transmission mount, but none of them made any comment about there being any possible clearance problem with the equalizer bar. I begining to think that maybe the mount had compressed overtime. I bought the car in 1990 and I haven't changed it, but that seems to be a lot of compression to cause the problem. Has anyone run into this before? I'm open to any ideas.
Thanks,

BTW.. It's a '66 convertible with a 289. Mustang Steve cable clutch kit.

There seems to always be a requirement to modify the lever. Can't really expect everything to bolt right up with that swap. Some crossmembers have better configured lever brackets than others, also. Could you put an offset into the lever for clearance?
Good news also... That rubber mount is around $10 at OReilly.

I looked at that. But I ended up shaving the tail cone rib to get the clearance I needed. I'll probably also replace the mount just because it's probably came new with the car. Thanks for the info. Heem
