Installing MS cable clutch...and ran into issue...I think

So I have the MS pedals and cable clutch.  I had an existing booster.
I got the new pedal assembly up and in, clearanced everything so the quadrant fits and have the firewall brace marked, drilled, and ready to go....my issue........

I can't get the booster back in....it looks like the studs on it are too short and I can't seem to get it in far enough that they clear the extra bracing MS has on the pedal assembly

Am I just not mounted in far enough yet or am I really going to have fight this thing back out of the car and put off some of the bracing?

Everything was test fitted. It will work without modification unless that booster is not one from me.

Re: Installing MS cable clutch...and ran into issue...I think

Booster was in the car..

I can almost get it all together....but it looks like I am going to have to take it all apart first and remove the drilled out nuts you have on the pedal assembly.  I gave up for today and drank a bottle of wine to dull the pain ;).....I might still be able to get it together once I get the booster all the way in and flat/flush....so far I've only been able to get 2 or 3 out of 4 studs/bolts aligned....

Remove those nuts from the pedal support.  For some '67 boosters, the style I have anyway, the studs on the booster are long enough to go through the nuts once they are reamed out.  When I redid mine I removed the nuts because there was no reason for them.  I reinforced the pedal support with some flat washers I welded in instead.

Somehow I knew that was going to be the answer.......which means laying under the dash for another hour fighting this bracket back out again.

Yeah, not much fun there.  Working on newer stuff has given me some perspective though.  I'd rather yank the pedal support in a classic Mustang than change injectors on my F250 (6.0 Diesel) any day.

Re: Installing MS cable clutch...and ran into issue...I think

Sorry, if I had known you had the shorter studs I would have removed them. Will not make that assumption again.
You can use a 1/2" drill bit through the firewall holes and that should loosen them up enough for you to get some vise grips under the dash and twist them out without having to remove the pedal support. Then use 3/8" washer on the studs.

Not a big deal.  I didn't even know booster had didn't size studs ;)

I'll get this together yet !
