I noticed the drain holes in the bottom of the rear quarter panels. The "open area" on the edge of the trunk compartment.
Are those holes REALLY necessary? I mean....its not a free flood area like the inside of the doors! Really only need the holes in case the trunk leaks and fills with water, right?!
I'm thinking about closing up all the drain holes and other holes going into the trunk to maybe cut down on the stinky exhaust seeping into the car. Just a thought.

Sal- According to The Ford Motor Company ,those holes are absolutely necessary for the prolonged life and enjoyment of the vehicle, and any tampering with the holes could result in life imprisonment for the owner. I'd plug em up to keep out the stank!

I plugged mine about 1992. So far so good, except mastercrap decided to drill a 1/4" hole to drain one side.

I would plug with a rubber plug that can be removed if needed.

Personally I that Al had the best idea only I would extend the trunk over and close the gap by the quarters. It would keep the quarters from flexing, and keeps stuff from falling down there.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
