I'm afraid my "stuff" is too fat, will it eventually go down..........

Replaced my weather stripping around my trunk and now the lid sits too high?!! Will it eventually settle/down  and the lid fit flush again? How long will it take before it goes back down? Will sitting in the sun make it go down quicker?(OR a tub of cold water?!!)

Park the car in the sun with the back end pointing south. Leave in that position for seven days. If the trunk lid has not returned to the correct elevation, remove the new weatherstrip and replace with Daniel Carpenter.

Did you install it with the open end of the "C" facing the inside of the trunk lid?  If not you need to remove it and reinstall it facing the right way.

As stated above, replace it with the softer version ,that's what I did!

I used the SD item on my trunk lid in 2015.  When I pulled the cover off the car this spring, it had settled.

Maybe it's just that you have too much junk in your trunk?

Re: I'm afraid my "stuff" is too fat, will it eventually go down..........

Kind of ironic. Scott Drake started his company with trunk weatherstrip. Now theirs does not fit. Had to take mine off the day I put it on. Key would not release the lock it was so tight and the decklid was about 1/8" or more too high. Now I have a dent in my trunk from trying to compress the gasket so the trunk would unlock. That thing would NEVER have compressed enough to fit right.
Bought the cheaper version and it fit perfect.
Go figure.

Or a licensed plumber

Hayy Mikeee, get one of these South Carolina home coming queens to sit on the trunk lid for a bit and the weather strip will settle down to the required height in short order!
