15x10

Ok so I am really digging a particular set of rims. I should be getting the 15x10 for the rears but the rims I like seem to only come in 15x8.  The tire will be 295-50-15.  This is a 12 inch wide tire. I know it's probably not the best idea to do this but is there any experience/ ideas out there?

Re: 15x10

So you want to run a 12" wide tire on an 8" wide rim?  And a 50 series tire at that?  That's simply not going to work.  You might be able to have the wheels widened, but you'd need a good shop with a skilled welder to do that, and machining on top of it.  I would first contact the manufacturer and see if you can special order the wheels in a wider size.

Re: 15x10

No I don't want to. I contacted the supplier and they only have a 17x10.5 wheel that would work but I don't really want a 17" wheel.  I am looking for suggestions on a solution. I guess if I had to get it widened I should just keep looking for another rim. Sounds cost prohibitive.

Re: 15x10

My son can special order a wide variety of wheels & tires through his employer (as evidenced by the collection in my basement).  Tell me the brand, model, backspace/offset you like, and I'd be happy to ask if 15X10 is possible.

Re: 15x10

When you had that 65 Coupe blown apart, did you tub it? If not, there is no way a 295-50-15 is going to fit in the stock rear fender well. Probably have to move the spring perches inboard too.

X-2 Big Ron!!
IF he DID tub it then the 17's would prolly fit. Shirley....if tubbed they are deeper AND taller openings!!
Bet its gonna look bad though.
Back in the day..,,,,,,,I put L-60-15's on some 7" rims and mounted them under a Dodge Challenger R/T. I think I ran like 10/12 pounds of air! I kept doing burn outs and letting air out until I had a nice flat patch!!

Re: 15x10

Here is the wheel. In my opinion very sweet. Problem is the widest I can find to include a call to Jegs is 15x8 unless I go to a 17" rim then 17x10.5 is available. I really want to stick to 15".   You can see what I have done to accommodate this large of a wheel and tire by going to MS "pictures and history" and look up mine under " work in progress". I've mini tubbed, relocated the leaf springs and put on subframe connectors. I have nearly 14" to work with now and 12" tire should clear without issue. Also, I will need a 5.5 inch back spacing.

Re: 15x10

I like those wheels, looks like the old Radar wheels. The minitub is good, but can you get that 5.5" bs wheel on and off with that big tire on it? I'm rooting for you, I want to see those big meats under a 65.

Yep, they "fit".  So long as the suspension never cycles...

Re: 15x10

Ok, I have to admit I did that in high school.  10 inch Cragars and M50x15's. Driving in a straight line was ok. Want to cross the apron to get fuel, go to the store or going around a corner was a bad idea.  Got stuck at a gas station once. The apron was steep enough that the body sat down on one rear tire and it was like putting on the brakes. Witch probably would not have been a big deal except the girl friend was in the car. Had ask her to drive while I lifted the body off the tire to get moving. Yeah that tire and wheel combo made it just a couple more days till new wheels and tires were found. NUFF Said.
