'84 thru '91 5.0L TV rod conversion for AOD transmission retro's

This sale is for a NEW AOD transmission TV rod for a '84-'91 Ford 5.0L Mustang and other Fords with this engine and transmission that utilize either a TV rod ('84 & '85 year models) OR a cable ('86 to '91 year models) to maintain transmission operating pressure and initiate kickdown of the AOD transmission to the lower gear when "passing gear" is desired.THIS PART IS COMPLETE AND WILL CONVERT THE CABLE VERSION AOD COMPLETELY up to 1991 year modelsThe lever that the TV rod comes with simply replaces the cable lever (if it is a cable version setup) completely and the trunion adjustment to set the transmission pressure is easily accomplished when following the adjustment procedure. This setup is especially desireable for those who wish to convert to an AOD transmission but want to be rid of the complexities and unreliable nature of adjusting the cable version setups.Instructions on setting/adjusting the TV pressure are included with the rod. Full sized Fords and Mercurys will also apply if they have this engine, transmission and a 2 Barrel carb or the CFI unit. This rod and all of its parts are made of stainless steel and will remain elegant looking its entire life...It will not rust.Delrin bushings, both at the carb/CFI unit end and at the trunion pivot, insure smooth and positive operation and are far superior in function/design to the spongy, snap in bushings of the stock OEM design that deteriorate and fall apart and can cause transmission failure due to transmission pressure NOT being held properly in adjustment by the TV rod/cable.The end bushing at the CFI or carb (if a carburetor is installed) is a permanently installed Delrin bushing. The correct rod retainers are included with this rod.

Re: '84 thru '91 5.0L TV rod conversion for AOD transmission retro's

How much? I'm looking for a solution to a 289/AOD with a FITECH fuel injection kit (TBI). I suppose I would have to modify the throttle linkage arm to get my correct geometry.

Hi Henry,
I am selling these conversions for $150 and it will come exactly as viewed in the picture.....all together. I have one out so far and the buyer is very pleased with its quality, ease of function and overall simplicity.
Unfortunately, this setup CANNOT be used with the TBI due to the direction of the throttle lever (right to left) rather than front to back. It can only be used with CFI or carburetor.
Thanks for your interest and question.

John, is this the solution for a 5.0 with Holley four barrel carb and an 89 AOD transmission?

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Yes, it absolutely is. My first customer used his in his 40 Ford P/U with the 5.0L with a Holley and an AOD transmission.

don't you also need a tv rod geometry bracket, to make sure that the TV has the correct shift points and pressure?
