My latest project

After hearing the Stereo that Steve Buzek put in his fastback I just couldnt stand listening to my piece of crap so I decided to redo mine.  It's not completed but getting close.  I ordered the same material that my seats are covered with from TMI

IMHO, the only way to enjoy rap is to not listen to it,

I'll pile on as well, rap is missing a "C" in front of it!.

I have a cd from Giovanni that I bought for a dime at a resale store you could borrow.   It does have a very good cover of Mandy (Barry Manilow) on it.

Re: My latest project

Steve's system did sound great.  But it really, really sounded great because he actually drove his car on a bash trip.

Re: My latest project

Terry,

I have a challenge with Steve's radio; too wide to fit in my console where Steve has his mounted.  What radio do you have, make and mode,l and can you send a pic of it mounted in your car?

Al and DBROWN
both, Steve and I have custom consoles in our cars.  Not sure what Steve's is but I built mine.  That is why they will fit.  My reciever is a Sony mex-n4100BT and Steves is a Pioneer AVH-X4800BS.  I will take a picture of mine later and post it, here is Steve's

Terry,
Any chance you would be willing to provide some detailed pics of that custom console too?

Re: My latest project

Do those require a separate amp or is it built into the head?  Thinking about it, I have never turned my radio on when on a trip, unless I got really bored.  Love the sound of the car more.  But maybe if it was a decent stereo I would turn it on more.  I really like the one in m y new Mustang and the Alpine in my new truck.

What does one of those things cost?

Steve, here is a link to my Photobucket album there are several pictures of my console on there.  The only difference is that now my gauges are in the dash and my new stereo is in the console where the gauges were

I already had the receiver so I just had to buy 4 speakers, a sub woofer and an amp.  My receiver pushes 60 watts but I added an amp to give it that extra ummpf!  My system is NOT one of the thumping ones like you hear going thump thump thump!  It has mild bass but is very clear sounding similar to Steve's.  His amp is 1000 watts where as mine is only 640.  I believe his Sub woofer is a 10" whereas min is an 8"
Here is a link to the shopping cart where I priced my system.  I actually paid less because I shopped around and found pieces cheaper elsewhere

Re: My latest project

My greatest disappointment with geezerhood is that my hearing has gone completely to crap. Bad enough that I can't hear loud, but aids help deal with that.  My problem is that my tonal range has deteriorated to the point where all music sounds flat...really flat and really off key.  So, now that I have gone to all the trouble to build Sirius XM and BlueTooth and a decent radio into the Mustang...I really can't enjoy it.  Major bummer!

The best way around that Bob is get your self a radio delete plate and sit back and enjoy the ride, and there is no wiring or fuses to worry about. Plus you won't have to up grade alternator or any electrical equipment. Been using one for all our bash trips and never had a problem with it.
