I'm here in Louisiana where we have just experienced record flooding. Was able to get to my house this afternoon for the first time since Thursday. We were not in a flood zone. Someone forgot to tell the river that we weren't supposed to flood. It was estimated by neighbors that we all got 3 feet of water in our houses. I'm not sure we got that much. When I got there I went in the house and looked around and saw what was ahead of me. Then I went to the shop to check out the stang and saw what I already knew. It wasn't pretty, but we are all alive and well and will get through this. Our small town is devastated. We've never had this kind of flooding. Got a lot of work ahead of me but I guess that's just par for the course. Me and my 14 year old daughter went out in the boat to make a rescue. Was kind of scary but you do what you have to do. Hope no one else on here from Louisiana had any flooding. It was great watching people help each other.

I was at the bash in Colorado this year when I heard about the floods in W Virginia. I was concerned because I used to work in Fairmont WV and have many friends there. It turned out the floods were in southern WV but you still had to feel for the people there, after seeing all the devastation there. I've helped friends clean up after a flood and would never want to go through that. I feel for you; our thought and prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear this. Just got to keep the faith. While its not the same, Ive been through several storm water flash floods, and while its only a few inches for me, it makes a mess of the garage. Last one I had was in December. I just built a whole new setup to protect my garage from flooding after the bash, and it got tested over the weekend. Sorry you are going through this.

Glad you and the family are safe.
GREAT that you guys went out and helped others while you and yours suffered the same loss.
It is good to see people working together during a disaster.
Saw the same thing after Hugo(hurricane-Sept. of 89) Amazing how we can pull together as people after a tragedy!
Sad to say but....it won't last for more than a few days.
Again...glad you are OK

So sorry to hear, but the main thing is that you and the family are safe. I think that I heard that 8 people didn't make it, what a tragedy.
With the weather changing the way that it has the last few years, any place could be next. I read that some areas got 24 inches of rain. Not to many places could take that kind of downpour without severe flooding. Don't know if it's global warming but something is going on with the weather.
Hoping you get back to normal before too long. Mike

Thanks for the encouraging words. Still pulling out sheetrock and cabinets. Hope to be finished this weekend. Haven't really had a chance to look in the shop much. Just went in there a few times getting tools and stuff to work with. Gonna get the house cleaned up and let it dry then sort through stuff in the shop. Was able to salvage the generator. Wasn't sure it would run after going under. Changed the oil several times trying to get the water out of it. So far so good.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
