Re: radiator support and shock tower measurements

OK, I'll bite.  What is an underhood dimension?  Are you looking for air cleaner clearance, shock tower width (that's under the hood too). Engine fore-aft dimensions?  We might need a little more info than "not the ones Steve has on his sight"  It might also help to describe your engine, intake manifold, carb/injection setup and the type of mounts you are running if you need to know carb and/or air cleaner to hood clearance.

Re: radiator support and shock tower measurements

Sorry I guess I really asked a bad question. My 65 FB was involved in a passenger collision at some point. It is currently on a frame machine and were having trouble finding the measurements to assure the shouck towers and radiator support are correct. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Re: radiator support and shock tower measurements

I'll take some measurements on mine today.  Unless someone has dimensions off of an undriven original car or from Ford, they are going to range from age and sag.  I have tried to get mine as straight as possible up on the rotisserie.  Is your firewall straight?  If so, I can triangulate readings from there to the shock towers and then up to the radiator support.

My shock towers measure 30 3/4" between the inner shock mounting bolts.  The fenders at the radiator support measure 43 1/2".  That should be accurate as the car has Monte Carlo Bar and Export Brace as well as never being in an accident.

Re: radiator support and shock tower measurements

I hope these dimensions make sense.  The shocks are not installed so I measured to the inside edge of the slots that face the center of the car.

The first dimension is from the center of a centered hole on the firewall/flange (factory stamped) to the inside of the shock tower slotted hole(s).  The passenger side measured 22" and the driver side measured 22-1/8".

Next, I measured from the center of this firewall hole forward to the radiator support.  It measured 39-1/4" to the back edge of the support and about 40-3/16" to the front face of the radiator support.

The dimension from the edge of the shock tower slots to the back edge/flange of the radiator support at the center is 27-3/4" on each side.

To clarify the shock tower position, this is the slotted hole I was using.

And this is the position on the firewall.

We were rolling the car around in case some of the pictures look a little odd.  The car was never hit in the front and all braces/bars fit up when installed.  Let me know if you need any other dimensions.

Forgot an important one. From inside slot to inside slot between the shock towers I got 30-1/4".  I also measured from the inside of the flanges rather than the slots and got 31-1/2".
