Ok I made a rookie mistake. I need to find out if there is a drawing with the dimensions of the fender apron. The dimension across the engine bay. I have a 66 convertible. I cut the entire front clip off and set it aside. Forgot I did not take dimensions and got rid of it.
Any help would be great.

Go to mustangsteve.com, this is the original sight. Click on FAQ, this is outlined black. After that click on SUSPENSION, scroll down there are some measurements. Don't know if this is what you need, maybe.

Thanks wsinsle, I have those drawings. I need the dimensions of the upper half of the car. The entire engine bay. I do not know anyone who has a mustung just sitting in the drive way or I would just take my measurements from that.

As you can see I have the new aprons on but they are just held on with screws.

I thnk having dimensions will get you in trouble. What you WANT is for all the parts to fit together and look like a car when you get through.
A good start is to buy a brand new SCOTT DRAKE or FORD concours export brace and bolt it to the firewall and shock towers. That establishes where everything needs to fit.
And, since you have it so far apart, I would attach the fenders, hood and front valance with gravel shield before I permanently welded anything. Assuming you did not also cut the frame rails off, having all those parts assembled with the car on a level floor should get everything right where it belongs.
Use those hex head sheet metal screws with the drill tip on them to attach the parts that get welded. Then weld up the holes when you get it all aligned.

Thanks for the advise. I have been using the sheet metal screws they work really well when pulling the panels together.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
