Someone tell me what this is?

Bought a mass back carpet set for my 1966 coupe and this is the rear portion.

It's molded with a flat slope in the center or both seat risers. Won't sit flat to floor because of it.

Re: Someone tell me what this is?

I am having a hard time trying to tell exactly what I am looking at in your picture, but my mass back carpet did not have any of that going on and fit perfect.  Maybe they sent the wrong one/mismarked or something.

A heat gun will let you remold it if you don't want to mess with sending it back.

Re: Someone tell me what this is?

FFR, I think I understand what you are seeing. I believe it is just flattened out from being packaged for shipping. There is probably a difference for convertible cars and coupes for carpet but I don't think that flat area should be there regardless. I installed mass back cut pile from ACC on my 66 coupe and I swore it would never fit. My rear carpet dropped in pretty well, but the front had issues ahead of the seat riser and on the door sides. I used a heat gun on the back side until it was warm and then pressed it to fit with a 2x4. I had to guesstimate how much to trim off little at a time. Then heat again and gradually got it to fit. Now it looks very nice and looks better than factory. Also had a heck of a time getting the door sills on, but did achieve satisfactory results with patience. I was surprised at how easily it molded with a bit of heat on that thick backing.

Re: Someone tell me what this is?

No it's not from packaging. It's formed this way and both sides are symmetrical. Look dead center of the seat riser and you can see the slope.

I just looked online at all ACC carpets and none have this slope.

Funny thing is this is my second set of carpet. First set had shifter hole cut and I didn't want that. I didn't have box anymore so couldn't return it and now this stuff formed wrong.

I'll call them Monday and see what the deal is. I haven't tried front yet so who knows about that.

The rear piece fits great on all other contours just has this crazy slope in the middle that won't let it sit flat

Re: Someone tell me what this is?

After digging around on the ACC website it looks like the 69 carpet has these sloped pieces formed into the carpet.

The box has the correct description and part number so maybe just boxed wrong.

I'm gonna call Monday and see
