Automatic shifter lamp stuck

Back in March we discussed the shifter lamp on my 1965 Mustang...At the time I didn't have the car to
check out the lamp. I got the car back and the lamp is connected vertically on the left side of shifter ,
as explained. I got the " bullet," disconnected but for the life of me , I can't get the lamp out of the silver bullet...I''ve twisted and pulled , pushed and twisted and done everything I can think of but, it won't budge. I'm afraid that I may get over zealous and break the connectors.....Help pls.....Phil

Re: Automatic shifter lamp stuck

The lamp assembly slides into the end of the "bullet". It just pulls out and then you can get to the lamp. Sounds like you may have a corrosion problem, mine comes apart easily.

Re: Automatic shifter lamp stuck

Push the bulb deeper into the socket and rotate it about 1/8 turn to release it.  The socket has a spring in it.

  Maybe a picture is worth a 1000 mis-typed words.

Re: Automatic shifter lamp stuck

THANKS... for all the suggestions and "visual".l Never was able to get the lamp to pull out but, it did finally

light up....Has to be the old wiring..,but , it's working and that's all that matters. Twenty - five years of sitting

has taken it's toll. On to the next problem !
