'65 Mustang headlight adjusting nut?

I just had the center nut break out of the adjusting clip.  The clip base is still in it's hole.  Without removing the whole headlight bucket I cannot tell how that clip is held into it's hole from the back side..  The clip has two wings on it that rest on the forward surface of the bucket in a horizontal alignment.  I cannot tell how the clip is inserted into the hole so that it will stay in place when the screw puts forward pressure on it.

Does anyone have a bucket in hand where they are able to take a close look at it?  I just ordered a new clip/nut and screw from CJ Pony and need to get the old clip out as well as install the new one when it comes.

Re: '65 Mustang headlight adjusting nut?

Ok, I was finally able to answer my own question.  Some times it is hard for me to think when I am down on my knees, looking upward thru the top frame of my glass(eyes), too close to the object and in low light.

The wings on the front of the clip are off center and towards the top or outside edge of the bucket hole..  The small lips on the opposite sides of the clip are what hang on to the back side of the headlight bucket. To remove the clip, you have to slide it down, in the opening,  as far as you can.  That lets the top lip clear the top opening/edge of the bucket hole.  You then tilt the hole clip forward (the front wings come toward you) then pull the clip up and out of the hole at a 30 or so degree angle.

To re-install it (one) you tilt the top (with forward wings) of the clip forward, slip the bottom of it into the hole as far down as it will go, push the top of it all the way back then slide the clip up until the top lip grabs hold of the bucket opening and is centered in the hole.

In my case, they had all been painted and did not slide around as easy as they would when they are new, with no paint buildup on the bucket casting or the face of the clip.
